Leaving Tuesday

Well, we will be on our way to Ch*na bright and early Tuesday!  What a whirlwind of a week it has been, but we are excited to finally be going.

We will be touring in Beijing Thursday through Saturday, getting to see some sights that we missed out on our first trip back in 2004.

Saturday we fly to Nanchang.  Sunday 9/5 we meet Lily!  Oh we can hardly wait!

Friday the 10th we fly to Guangzhou.

Our consulate appointment is Tuesday 9/14.

Thursday the 16th we travel to and spend the night in Hong Kong.

Friday the 17th we fly home!

We plan on updating this blog while we are there.  Doug is network savvy and thinks he can make it work.  So stay tuned for posts from across the ocean!  I don't know that I'll be back on to blog again or not before we leave the states.

Wish us luck!

Furry Ray of Sunshine

While waiting for all of our adoption travel plans to fall into place, it's been a wee bit stressful with a lot of unknowns.  Being that this is our second adoption, you'd think we'd have this all down to a routine.  But for some reason, there are some stubborn holes in this plan.  It's not at all like our first experience.

So today, after I told myself for the zillionth time it will all work out and to just let it go, my cat Peaches decided to humor me several times.  First she played wildly like a kitten while I sorted a mountain of laundry.  I've never seen her have so much fun, she must have known I needed to smile!

Then in a fit of expending pent up emotions and energy, I tackled the front closet.  I scored several rocks, some coins from foreign countries (Uraguay, Peru, France - I was worried I had a kleptomaniac kid on my hands, only to find out grandma M gave them to her), one green sprinkled sugar cookie in crumbles, and a half sucked on jaw breaker.  I keep any money I find, so I came out ahead.  Amongst other coins, there was a 1/2 dollar coin.  When's the last time you've seen one of those?!

I had a supervisor on the closet job.  Or a new fur hat since she's on the hat shelf.  Once again she made me laugh out loud.  I swear that cat knows I need some extra giggles today!

PS - our closet has three tiers built into it.  The top two tiers hold all of our holiday decorations.  Rose and her friends love that time of year because when all the stuff is down, they get to play up in there.  I rigged up a string of lights, so they have their own hideout.  I keep saying I'm gonna claim it for my getaway.  Install a skylight, pipe in some tunes, load it with pillows.  A mini fridge would be nice.  I'd be happy...

Regressing Already?!

Little girl #2 isn't even home yet, and Rose is regressing!  Got the crib set up this weekend.   Caught her in the act of checking it out.  She's asked to sleep in it tonight.  We reminded her of how she couldn't wait to get out of it when she was little - we had to move her to a big bed when she learned how to climb out.

Rose baked a cake (from a box) for National Night Out last week.  She did it all by herself, with a little help from me reading some of the instructions and operating the oven.  She mixed up some fresh fruit and spread that on the top.
Dog sitting this week and Griffin and Peaches looked like they were contemplating a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos!  This dog completely ignores Peaches, so everyone is happy.

In other news, little girl #2 finally has a name!   Her new name will be
Lily Xiaobei (first and middle).  We don't know yet when we will be traveling.  Can't wait to kiss those chubby cheeks!
